And here it is! The piece that UDON selected to fill a spot in the Mega Man Tribute and warm the hearts of Blue Bomber fans the world over. Following my penchant for movie parodies, I thought Octoper OA from Wave Man's stage would be a prime candidate for a 1950's B-movie poster. To tell you the truth, I hadn't intended to draw this one at all because I thought I had done well enough with my previous submission. But when I heard that UDON extended the deadline, I made the effort to get one last entry done for the road. I think I slept all of ten hours in four days and submitted it a mere fifteen minutes before the deadline, but the investment paid off when I received the following message from Matt Moylan:
Congratulations!
You’ve been selected as one of the lucky artists to be including in UDON’s Mega Man Tribute art book. Your art was good enough to impress the UDON and Capcom judges, so we’re glad to have you aboard.
I hope you like it as much as UDON and Capcom do. Excuse me, I think I'm going to cry again...
Fun fact: The version I sent in originally included the tagline, "Can you survive the hunt for Red Octoper OA?", but UDON asked me to remove that. Either they're just eliminating copyrights again or they thought the pun was too horrible to print.

I thought I'd seen all the tribute winners, but this one slipped by! It's awesome! what a creative idea, no wonder it made it in. I like the way you did the lighting.
Thanks! I was inspired by Napo's illustration of Octoper OA, which is the only time I've seen it with tentacles. They were eventually omitted in the final game because they were underwater.
No problem! Sounds interesting, I've searched for it but can't find it, can you please post a link? It's a shame the game excluded the tentacles, maybe it was too much for the NES too handle?
Aaaah and there I can see why this one was chosen, though I think you other entries were great as well. Very creative and original, plus the technique is excellent. Great job and congrats on making it into the tribute, as a true fan you deserve it!
