WHAT THE HOLY F**K IS THIS?!? :stinkeye:

In case you haven't heard the news, a few days ago it was announced that a new Thundercats cartoon would be premiering on Cartoon Network. "Splendiforous!" I thought! I've been aching for more Thundercats cartoons ever since the sublime 2011 reboot ended after just one season. And then the poster for Thundercats Roar gets released online.

What. The. Hell. :stare:

Please tell me this is a joke. I could use a good laugh right about now. What madman can possibly think this... atrocity is going to attract fans of the series? After all, I enjoyed watching the 80's cartoon as a kid and I think the 2011 reboot is even better. The animation was gorgeous, the story was engrossing and the characters were all well-developed. It deepened the mythos of the world of Thundera and built a believable camaraderie and even romance between our wandering band of heroes. It told the tale of young king Lion-O's quest to retrieve the four Infinity Power Stones with his friends in order to defeat Mumm-Ra and restore his kingdom. But despite the success of the show, the series was cancelled before the story was complete because apparently the toys didn't sell that well. I can't say I'm surprised, Bandai's figures looked like crap anyway. But it was an unfair reason to kill off the cartoon and it left many fans upset that we never got to see how the Thundercats' journey ends.

So all these years I've been waiting for a revival to bring some sense of closure to the series. Then this comes along. I... I'm at a loss for words. :dead: This is obviously going the Teen Titans Go! route because some nutjob thinks that's the best way to make a cartoon series. Are they really that dense? Given Thundercats' roots in the 80's, it has a sizeable adult fanbase and it's been proven in the more mature stories and artwork featured in many of the comic spin-offs. But this show looks like its regressing its audience to the pre-school level, alienating longtime Thundercats fans and causing a severe backlash online. This looks like Shin-chan from Hell. I haven't felt this repulsed by an updated cartoon series since Loonatics Unleashed. No... no... this is ten times worse that. Tobin Wolf must be rolling in his grave. :tombstone:

If I continue this rant much longer, I'm going to go into conniptions. I think I'll go and watch more 2011 episodes while clutching my Cheetara plushie and weeping. :cries: Let me know what you think about Thundercats Roar.

This is honestly a new trend of just mooching off franchises and then going "fuck you" to any of the old fans (that made it what it was in the first place) that might be interested. Cartoons that have no substance and value (compared to... all the old shit like Teen Titans, Batman cartoons, hell even old PPG) are a growing trend and at this point you are better off just shutting off the tv or never watching the channel.
Don't worry. It's not like people  will remember these guys at 45
